Ecopsychology, or Eco-psychology is a field of study situated at the intersection between several academic fields of enquiry, including-- biology, earth sciences, environmental studies, psychology, holistic health, and ecology, but is not limited by any disciplinary boundaries.
At its core, Ecopsychology suggests that there is a synergistic relation between planetary and personal well being; that the needs of the one are relevant to the other. WELL MIND = WELL EARTH.
The green truth is that: - We are born into and remain part of the global ecosystem throughout our lives.
- To be part of any system, one has to be in communication with it. To this end, we inherit from Nature over 50 natural senses. We suffer our greatest troubles because -- on average-- our society's prejudice has us disconnected from Nature (over 98 % of the time). This profound loss leaves us wanting.

There's no denying the Laws and Lessons of Nature --
Nature does not waste.... but does recycle, reuse, and cleanse.
The SEED teaches us -- - the only way to get the harvest you want is to plant the right seeds. The seed is the start of something new.
The TREES teach us -- about reaching high for what we want, about creating beauty, about cleaning up toxins, and about helping to protect the planet. Trees provide fruits... help create oxygen, shade -- and give homes to squirrels.
FLOWERS teach us -- about colors, health, beauty and art. Flowers represent blooming---(growing success, emerging goodness) -- and they also are a symbol of love, friendship and kindness. Some also give off pleasant aromas...some blossoms, have healing powers.
WATER teaches us -- cleanliness, washing, movement, fluidity; represents ethics and spirituality -- and satisfies thirst and helps provide nourishment too ! Water is the natural habitat for fish and other marine animals. Water can be very powerful -- such as a flood or hurricane shows us. It can slowly erode away a big rock.
AIR teaches us -- breathing... air keeps us all alive... all living things use the air to survive.... our blood circulates the oxygen through our body....oxygen is produced by plants via photosynthesis with the sunlight... plants recycle pollutants and give us back air to breathe.... "spirit" also refers to breathing air = respiration.... in Yoga breath connects to higher dimensions in life.

FOR YOUR IMAGINATION:
* Pretend that you are a tropical plant. You have the following thoughts --
I am a beautiful tropical plant. My flowers that I produce and possess elements that help to cure cancer and other horrible diseases that come from imbalances in metabolism, enzymes, and nutrients.
There have been many people who have tried to harness those powers so that they can sell them for a ton of money. But it is difficult to do because of the delicacy of the blossoms. It is not easy to package the "magic cures" because the fragile blossoms must remain intact to be most effective. Those who have discovered these flowers know that when they take the fresh blooms and put them into a fruit juice and then drink the concoction – that their bodies become healthy. But they have not yet figured out how to commercialize the potent elements in the flowers. I am in no position to inform them that it can be done with special freeze-dry techniques.
I can only continue to multiply and make more flowers. Perhaps one day – after they have exhausted all the drugs – humanity will wake up and see the truth about these flowers and want to preserve the beauty of what we offer.
Although the world is suffering at epidemic rates from all sorts of diseases, they have failed to give Nature the credit due for providing all of these herbs, roots, oils, foods, flower remedies, and medicines. They continue to produce drugs that are very limited in their ability to treat the ailments. Business is booming in the drug industry…while they only seek to chop down this forest where I live.
Businesses are bringing in their big trucks and tractors --spewing poison exhaust fumes into the clean jungle air -- and they are cutting down the trees. Those companies do not consider re-planting anything. They are leaving large masses of vacant land which will soon cause more climate problems. In addition, they do not bother to consider what happens to the animals (insects, birds, organisms, etc.) who live in the forests.
Without trees, the air will be more polluted and the planet will have less oxygen—causing more sickness. The cycle of life (ecology) balance will be thrown off. The rains will come and wash away the fertile top soil. But it does not stop there -- they take the wood from the trees to use to build houses. Then they over-charge people who purchase the expensive houses. Humanity is already suffering in debt -- nearly drowning in an economic crisis. But -- that has not stopped them yet. The greed for money and mistreatment of the land will only cause more sicknesses and suffering.
There are other commodities that can be used to contruct homes and buildings -- such as: recycled steel and rubber. But these greedy people have not considered that alternative --because they want to exploit the abundant forests. Little do they know -- that once all the forests have been chopped down -- they will not be able to survive in their fancy, expensive buildings.
By ignoring the healing powers we offer as plants --- humanity is digging their own graves. We must put a stop to this ugly cycle of greed and self-destruction. Thank goodness for those who are trying to raise awareness of the divine connections of humanity to all things in life. I reach up to the sun and I pray to the GREAT SPIRIT that the beauty of my blossoms will open their eyes --- and most of all -- heal their minds ...one day soon.
